UNICEF Moldova’s implementing partners, including specialists from the Center for Assistance and Protection of Victims and Potential Victims of Trafficking in Human Beings, received training on the core principles and safe referral of gender-based violence (GBV) cases.
International child protection expert Flore Rossi discussed tools for safely and ethically supporting gender-based violence survivors and referring cases to the relevant competent authorities.
Additionally, the Gender-Based Violence Pocket Guide, “Prepare, Look, Listen, Link,” was presented as an effective tool for safe and confidential referrals.
“In the context of the ongoing response to the refugee crisis, where the vast majority of refugees in Moldova are women and children, prioritizing the protection of women and girls is extremely important. A significant proportion consists of women who fled without their spouses, single women, adolescent girls, and elderly women, who face an increased risk of being subjected to various forms of gender-based violence.
Therefore, today’s training provided concrete tools to be applied when gender-based violence cases are disclosed to UNICEF partners, volunteers, and program workers,” stated Ecaterina Cernomorcenco, Adolescent Development Program Coordinator at UNICEF Moldova.
