In the context of marking theEuropean Day against Trafficking in Human Beings, on October 18, 2017, the national information campaign“Invisible among us” was launched.The event was organized by the Permanent Secretariat of the National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings within the State Chancellery, in partnership with the IOM Mission in Moldova and the Municipal Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings.
That activity is a continuation of the campaigns carried out in Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus within the Program against human trafficking, financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway and implemented by the IOM Mission in Moldova. Similar events took place in the Republic of Moldova in 6 administrative-territorial units starting from March 28, 2017.
The purpose of the campaign is to raise awareness and inform society about the phenomenon of human trafficking (TFU) on certain risk groups, with an emphasis on street children, children left without parental care, orphans, young graduates of residential institutions, victims of family violence, people with disabilities, elderly people.
During the event, the Center for Assistance and Protection of Victims and Potential Victims of Trafficking in Human Beings was represented by the director of the Center, Ms. Bojenco Diana who came with a message to inform society about the risks and consequences of the phenomenon of Human Trafficking, specialists from the central and local public administration, representatives of the Chisinau municipality administration, development partners, diplomatic missions and civil society also participated.
In the square of the Cathedral, 10 human figurines were placed on which are inscribed the real histories of more than 3000 victims, citizens of the Republic of Moldova, identified, who received assistance from the year 2000 until now.
At the end of the event, a workshop was organized in which topics related to the efficiency of the actions undertaken in the field of TFU prevention, the protection of TFU victims and the prevention of TFU cases in the municipality of Chisinau were discussed, through the involvement of each individual actor within the limits of professional responsibilities and interests.
